My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Pushing her boundaries is such an enjoyable read. I felt an instant connection with the characters. I love how Julia's books feel like they're real. I thought it was very interesting that this story is based on her canoe trip. That made me want to read it even more.

Maggie is a woman who has always been taken advantage of by men. Whether it was by being cheated on, being hit, or being broken up with she's experienced it all. Because of all of these bad relationships she's had she has put her guard up because she doesn't want to be hurt again. When Maggie meets Mace she thinks he is annoying, rude, and abnoxious; like all of the men she's ever dated.

Forced together first in plane seats, second by their siblings, and third by a canoe trip their trust in each other grows. I love how every moment they were together was like it was meant to be, like fate. Maggie and Mace end up working together on their canoe trip to survive and it turns into something much more than just working together, they begin to trust, and love each other. Maggie realizes on the canoe trip that she judged Mace before she got to really know him, and she figures out that he is nothing like the other guys she's dated who have let her down. Mace is strong, funny, and there for Maggie in every way.

-Side note: The hosts in this book made me really angry at the way they treated Maggie and Mace, and I wanted to strangle them myself.

The relationship development between Mace and Maggie is great; they aren't just motivated by lust and desire. They actually learned to trust each other in difficult situations and work together as a team. These components are what a relationship needs to last, and what most relationships today are lacking in.

My thoughts on this book is that it is sweet, adventerous, hot, and a great read. Anything by Julia Rachel Barrett is guaranteed to be good! Check out her books, I promise you won't be dissapointed... in fact you may feel the need to buy them all.
