Can we pause for a minute, and imagine a moment as perfect as standing in a beautifully blooming field, surrounded by nothing but the wind, while looking up at those white fluffy clouds, and hearing the words "You are granted a lifetime of free books". How happy, surprised, and ecstatic would you be? PRETTY DAMN PUMPED I'M GUESSING?

Well this feeling I'm describing is how The Bone Season made me feel. It was weird how I came across this book. I was at my local book store, looking for something dark and different, and I happened to discover the Staff Picks shelf. TBS was on the top shelf and the cover intrigued me so I picked it up, read the synopsis, and knew I had to get it.

When first starting TBS I was confused at first because of the lingo, but that soon faded, I caught on, and this baby took off. Paige is our heroine and boy has she been through a lot. In her world she is considered an "unnatural" which is someone who is clairvoyant. Paige is a dream walker, a very rare sect of clairvoyance... and for that reason she has to be very careful.

She works along side and for some of the most powerful, rare, and talented voyants in the world and because of that they aren't safe. When unnaturals are caught and identified by the government Scion they are taken to The Tower, a prison for voyants. Or at least that's what they're told. Paige soon finds that to be false when one night she is attacked and brought to an unknown land ruled by the thought to be, evil, all powerful race of The Rephiam. An otherworldly species who use Scion as a puppet to obtain voyants.

Upon arrival to Oxford, against the odds a Rephiam who has never taken a vessel under his wing suspiciously lays claim to Paige. His name is Warden and he is the queen's consort. 

You guys this book is just so unique and wonderful, it's so complex yet easy to follow. I'm in awe right now. I don't want to give it away but Paige really learns who she is, and what her true abilities are. She has to learn to harness those gifts if she wishes to save herself and other voyants.

Are the Rephiam really as evil and indestructible as they seem you may wonder? Well you should go ahead and pick this bad boy up and be prepared to read it, devour it, inhale it... Simply amazing. I love Paige along with all of the other side characters. Hated Nashira, that bitch. But you'll form your own opinions when you read it for yourself. A story that won't let you go, The Bone Season has made it to my favorite books list. Samantha Shannon is a genius and extremely talented, I am anxiously awaiting the second book in TBS series.
